Cars to the Stars: What the Rich and Famous Drive
We all have a dream car. Okay, let’s be real—dream cars, plural! Whether it’s custom-built by us or for us, the highest configuration of a luxury brand SUV, or a speedster that can go from 0 to 60 MPH in virtually no time, have you ever thought of what you’d drive if you could afford any car without worrying about its price tag?
Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyoncé, Tom Cruise, and Johnny Depp certainly have. Check out what some of today’s most successful stars have parked in their garage with the following post from ATC:
Leonardo DiCaprio: Fisker Karma
From Titanic to The Wolf of Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio’s highly successful career has spanned many decades and genres. A one-of-a-kind actor calls for a one-of-kind ride and Leo’s Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sports car is certainly that. The first Fisker Karma combined supreme efficiency and performance in a package that left its eco-friendly intentions unrecognizable.
Leo was such a big fan of Fisker that he became an equity shareholder of the company in 2012. The latest Fisker model is the 2018 Karma Revero, which boasts a solar-powered roof and an up to 300-mile range on a single battery charge.
Beyoncé: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
When she’s not riding around in a tricked-out tour bus, you may find Beyoncé behind the wheel of her Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Sold from 2003 to 2010, just 3,500 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLarens were built and one of them belongs to Queen B.
The grand touring style 2-door features a supercharged 5.4L V8 and a carbon fiber reinforced build to minimize its weight. Plus, the SLR McLaren’s gullwing doors that open up rather than out look straight out of a spy movie.
Tom Cruise: Porsche 911
“Porsche. There is no substitute.” Repping the auto maker in his movies and in real life, Tom Cruise is a Porsche fan through and through, standing behind the brand’s enthusiast-centric design and equipment. The current Porsche 911 convertible has a slew of model configurations, offering up to 607 horsepower on tap and an impressive 0 to 60 MPH time of just 2.5 seconds.
Johnny Depp: Corvette Roadster
By sea, he’s Captain Jack, but by land, Johnny Depp takes to the roads in his 1959 red and white Corvette Roadster that was gifted to him by the producer of The Rum Diary, which he starred in. Lighting the way with circular headlights, detailed in eye-catching chrome accents, and powered by an up to 290-horsepower engine, Depp’s classic car is the epitome of retro and a cool piece of car history.
From vehicles environmentally ahead of their time to retro rides that take you back in time, enjoying great cars is a hobby that knows no bounds. These Hollywood stars and starlets love driving their dream cars, but how many of them like getting into the shop themselves? Learn about some famous mechanics in history with this post from your friends at ATC.
