A Day in the Life of an ATC Student – A Spotlight on ATC’s Day in the Life Video

Auto Training TeachingATC’s A Day in the Life of an ATC Student video gives you an inside look at what it’s like to walk the ATC halls, learn from ASE-certified instructors, and put that training to the test day in and day out while enrolled in one of our five challenging, fun, and rewarding programs in the automotive and marine industries.

Not Your Typical Class Day

A typical class day means something totally different to an ATC student. That’s because when you’re enrolled at ATC, after theory in the morning, your class day takes place in something that most people would consider far from a classroom: one of ATC’s many fully equipped training shops.

Each afternoon is dedicated to hands-on shop-based training where students take the techniques, processes, and theory they learned during the first half of the day and immediately apply it to real projects on modern industry equipment.

From building your bodywork, painting, and restoration skills as a Collision Reconditioning Technology student to taking apart and reconstructing a transmission in the Automotive Technology program to testing engine performance on a rolling road or chassis dynamometer as an Automotive and Hi-Performance Technology student, each day that you’re enrolled at ATC is a new adventure and a new opportunity to further your skills as a technician in training.

Recreating a Professional Shop Environment

Auto Training SchoolFrom the jobs assigned to the attire you wear and the attitude you’re expected to uphold, attending classes at ATC recreates a real shop environment, giving you invaluable preparation for when it’s your turn to join the field.

As the video mentions, you might be given a work order with a customer’s complaint and be required to follow the same protocol that a practicing technician would, using your problem solving and skills that you’ve learned to see what’s wrong, diagnose the issue, and fix it, just like the pros.

Many ATC grads comment that attending ATC feels more like you’re working in a shop and less like you’re going to school. Since ATC’s instructors are all people who have spent many years working in the industry, they’re familiar with the industry’s standards and ready to help you become the best technician you can be.
