3 Critical Things ATC Grads Want You to Know

As you’re searching for the best fit when it comes to your post-secondary education, there are many things you can do to prepare and plenty of research out there worth looking at. However, sometimes, the best thing to do is to get the information straight from the source.

The Automotive Training Center team is taking a closer look at what to expect of our program, with the three things ATC grads want you to know.

1. Every day is different.

3 Critical Things ATC Grads Want You to KnowThere really isn’t a typical day at ATC, with new challenges and new experiences every day. The industry-professional instructors have the knowledge and expertise to prepare you for a career as an automotive technician. You’ll start off the day in the classroom, but half the day will be dedicated to hands-on experience in the shop, where you’ll practice what’s been learned during the day in the classroom.

These labs will be designed to handle today’s automotive, collision, high-performance, diesel, and marine industry environments. This hands-on experience really does prepare you for a career in the automotive industry, and that can’t be stressed enough.

While college classes might be filled to the brim with students in large lecture halls, you’ll get to work with instructors who prepare you for daily tasks, and how to tackle any challenges that may arise each day.

2. You can apply for employment immediately upon graduation.

Thanks to ATC’s alliance with the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia (ADAGP), graduates can take advantage of employment opportunities with over 180 car and truck franchises within the five county area. It’s also possible to seek part-time industry employment while attending school.

Not sure how to start your search? That’s not a problem, either. The ATC Career and Student Services Department offers assistance for employment services, contacting potential employers and reviewing graduates’ resumes while assisting in scheduling interviews.

With so many career opportunities available in the region, the curriculum at ATC is designed to prepare students for a long and fruitful career in the automotive industry.

3. Classes can be on your schedule, not ATC’s.

3 Critical Things ATC Grads Want You to KnowWhile many students will opt for the daytime classes, it is possible to enroll in the automotive technology program at night if it works better for your schedule.

The program length will vary slightly, as Automotive Technology day students can plan to complete coursework and graduate in about 64 weeks. As nighttime sessions are slightly shorter, those enrolled in the evening program can expect to finish in about 84 weeks.

While the difference between these two programs is quite literally day and night, you’ll still be learning from the same qualified instructors, and be working on similar topics in the classroom along with hands-on projects during lab time.
