What Are the Most Common Collision Repairs Today?

Collision reconditioning technology has made major advancements over the years. Oftentimes, collision repair technicians, like the ones who graduate from Automotive Training Center, can make an accident look like it never happened. It’s never fun to be in an accident or see a dent in your car, but there’s a good chance it can be repaired.

You might be wondering what some of the most common collision repairs are. No two collisions are the same, and that’s something every collision repair tech always takes into account. Let’s take a closer look at the type of damage a car can incur.

Front-End Collisions

Front-End CollisionsThe most prevalent front-end damage is typically to the bumper. Since it acts as the direct point of contact in a crash, this certainly makes sense. There may also be damage to the grille, headlights, and possibly, the hood. Minor damage like a shattered headlight or indented bumper may occur, too.

It’s possible that there may be damage to interior mechanical structures. This certainly wouldn’t be visible to the naked eye, which is why your vehicle should receive a proper assessment following a front-end collision.

Rear-End Collisions

It could have been caused by a distracted driver, a sudden slamming of the brakes, or perhaps even the weather. Whatever the reason for the collision, a rear-end crash can be a jarring experience. As for the car itself, a rear-end crash will typically involve the bumper, taillights, trunk, and rear quarter panels.

A rear-end crash may avoid interior mechanical damage, but cosmetic repairs may be needed. Even if things look normal from the outside, it’s possible that the car’s frame may have been affected. If the frame isn’t repaired properly, it may not be able to properly protect you in an accident.

Window Repair and Replacement

Windshield RepairWindow damage can come in just an instant. It could be hail-related, or perhaps someone attempted to break into your car. Or, you may have fallen victim to an unlucky tree branch hitting the windshield. Whatever the reason, a window may need replacement.

If a chip or crack is visible, it’s important to get an estimate from a collision repair technician. It could be part of a larger issue.

Auto Body Painting and Dent Removal

Paint can protect a car from the weather, or may be repaired for cosmetic reasons. This may be the direct result of an accident, or perhaps there is a deep scratch needing removal. Scratches and chips can make the exterior more susceptible to damage, cracking, or rust.

If there’s a deep scratch, it can be repainted and buffed to look like new again. Paintless dent removal is indirectly related to auto body painting. Have a dent that’s become a bit of an eyesore? Technicians can approach the dent from behind the damaged area, which means the exterior stays in place, and no painting is needed. Paintless dent repair is another common collision repair.
