Bayville Marine Mechanic School NJ
If you’ve always been a fan of boats, perhaps even owned one or spent time on one yourself, you may already be accustomed to a life spent out on the water. What if that life became permanent? At a marine mechanic school near Bayville, NJ, Automotive Training Center prepares the future generation of marine technicians.
That’s done through our Marine Service Technology program here at our Warminster campus. In this space, we’re taking a closer look at this program and exploring everything it offers.
Training to Become a Marine Technician
As a Marine Service Technology student, you’ll spend time in the classroom learning from marine instructors who are experienced in their field. This is the best way to pick up on techniques and learn all about boat operation. However, the real excitement comes in the shop. About half of your time will be spent there, working on inboard, outboard, and sterndrive engines.
Gaining experience working on engines from Honda, Yamaha, and Mercury Marine is key because these are some of the most popular brands you’ll see on a daily basis as an entry-level marine technician.
Much of your time will be spent working on engines. However, you’ll also become familiar with the support systems and sub-systems. A well-prepared marine mechanic understands electrical systems, plumbing, air conditioning, and heating.
Many graduates will even become gelcoat and fiberglass technicians. These technicians are focused on the overall appearance of the watercraft, repairing chips, cracks, and damage on a daily basis.
Living Life as a Marine Mechanic
Day-to-day life as a marine mechanic will challenge you, but it can be a highly rewarding career you’ll be proud of. If you’ve long thought that you’d enjoy spending your career by the water working on water vessels, this can be the right choice for you.
You’ll work on boats of all shapes and sizes, and as we mentioned above, that doesn’t just mean the engine. Watercraft need attention when it comes to plumbing, electrical, and the like. While your most active months may be in the summer, you’ll be active year-round. Boats require winterizing to survive the cold months and need to be brought back to life with spring maintenance.
About Bayville NJ
If you’re a Bayville resident searching for a marine mechanic school, you’d be best served to look into our marine mechanic school’s offerings at our Warminster campus. After you’ve graduated, though, Bayville is a pretty great place to ply your trade.
You may repair and maintain boats that head out on Barnegat Bay each day, working on one of the many marinas in the immediate area. Of course, your entire life doesn’t have to be spent on the water. Take a break from it all and head to the trails at Double Trouble, or just spend time relaxing at home.
