Fall is one of the best times of the year to check out an off-roading course with some friends or family. Whether you’ve been off-roading numerous times before or are looking to start, some of the best off-roading courses you can find for any skill level are right in your backyard. And if you’re looking for tips on how you can make your vehicle better for off-roading, the trained staff at these courses can lend you some of their expertise.

Here are the best places for off-roading around the Exton, PA, area:

1. Pine Barrens, NJ (54 miles)

The Pine Barrens have become one of the best places to off-road east of Exton. Even though you’ll have to cross state lines, the Pine Barrens aren’t too far away. These trails traverse thousands of acres of forestry and are optimal for 4WD vehicles, ATVs, or dirt bikes. Wharton State Forest is especially popular and offers 500 acres of trails with options for beginners and advanced off-roaders. The Pine Barrens also offer camping sites for weekend-long off-roading trips. Because of the vast area of the trails, make sure you stay on the courses so you don’t get lost.

2. Rausch Creek (65 miles)

The Rausch Creek Off-Road Park in Pine Grove, PA, consists of over 30 miles of trails for almost every type of off-road vehicle. The trails include dirt courses and rock-crawling courses designed for all levels of ability. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a sponsored professional, Rausch Creek will have a trail for you. Rausch Creek also offers a number of different programs, including monthly guided trail rides, instructional rides, camping options, racing courses, and Rent-A-Jeep availability.

3. Ready To Ride (90 miles)

Located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Ready To Ride is a smaller park designed for off-road go-karts, ATVs, and dirt bikes. There are three tracks at Ready To Ride, each designed for specific skill levels. If you’re a novice, there’s a half-mile novice loop. If it isn’t your first time off-roading but you need to brush up on your skills, there’s a 3-mile amateur loop. If you’re an experienced off-roader, there’s a 2-mile expert loop.

While it may not be a larger location that offers trails and courses for full-sized off-road vehicles, it’s a great place for a day trip for some off-roading fit for the whole family.

If you’re looking to get away this fall and spend a weekend off-roading with friends, be sure to check out any one of these courses.
