Diesel MechanicTime spent in the classroom will be focused on learning all about diesel applications and technology. Once you step into the shop, you’ll have the opportunity to work on diesel engines built by Detroit Diesel, Cummins, and Caterpillar.

You’ll learn how to diagnose, repair, and replace. Get experience performing repairs on brakes, and learn about anti-lock brake systems and how they operate. Learn how to perform preventative maintenance on trucks and what it takes to protect large 18-wheelers, bulldozers, and other high-powered equipment.

You may become a diesel technician. If you’re a diesel technician, you’ll need to understand diesel engines forwards and backwards to ensure all parts are working as they should.

A heavy equipment technician will work on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, bulldozers, cranes, and other equipment. You’ll need to have a keen eye and be able to inspect and repair steering assemblies, front and rear axles, differentials, and more.

If you are looking to get into the customer side of things, you may become a service writer. Service writers will listen to customer issues and requests and keep them updated about the cost of repairs and services, explaining the work and how it was done.
