Enjoying Your Career as a Marine Technician

Marine MechanicThe Automotive Training Center Warminster campus is the exclusive location for our marine mechanic school. You’ll have an opportunity to work with knowledgeable instructors who care about your success. Since 2006, Marine Service Technology has been taught at this location.

As a marine mechanic, you will work on inboard, outboard, and sterndrive engines. There are a lot of boats out on the waterways, and to ensure a successful boating season, these engines need to be properly maintained and taken care of. Working with Yamaha, Honda, and Mercury Marine engines, you’ll have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the shop, but also still gain knowledge in the classroom.

If you’re the do-it-yourself kind of person who has toyed around with boats and always wondered what makes them so unique once they’re out on the water, a career as a marine technician might be for you. Love the outdoors and being on the water? This could be the career for you.

Jumpstart Your Marine Mechanic Lifestyle

Marine Mechanic CareerWhile you’ll be spending a lot of time working on boat engines at ATC, you’ll get plenty of experience with all of that behind-the-scenes type stuff, too. You’ll need to understand the electrical and mechanical systems, along with things like plumbing, heating, and air conditioning.

Of course, the boat needs to look great, too. Fiberglass and gelcoat technicians focus on the appearance of a boat and offer repairs and service to keep it in tip-top shape.

Beyond the hands-on skills you’ll develop, we’ll also instill the people skills you’ll need in your toolbelt each day. You’ll be talking to boat owners about their needs and doing your best to fulfill their requests. Communication is key, and we’ll go over these key skills so you know how to handle any question someone throws your way.
