Who Will Enjoy the Philadelphia Folk Festival?

Unlike some other summer music festivals that are exclusively for adults, the Philadelphia Folk Festival is a fully inclusive family event. With a broad range of folk-themed activities like storytelling, acrobat performances, a kid’s music area, and, of course, the main festival stage, the Philly Folk Festival is for folk music fans of all ages!

Festival Music Lineup

An eclectic mix of strings, brass, and vocals, folk music can be delicate and dreamy, thunderous and daring, or upbeat and danceable.

Year after year for the past half century, Old Pool Farm has transformed into a breathtaking alfresco-sound park for the Philly Folk Festival, uniting nature’s acoustics with the talent of some of the best well-known and soon-to-be-known artists in the folk genre.

Food Festival

Back by popular demand, Americana string band, Old Crow Medicine Show, will headline the festival this year. Other popular acts to look forward to include Graham Nash, TajMo: The Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ Band, and Samantha Fish.

What to Bring for the Best Festival Experience

Taking place in the heat of mid-August, you’ll definitely want to prepare for attending the Philly Folk Festival. Here are a few tips that’ll help you enjoy your time at the festival…

  • Beat the heat: Wear light clothing, plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and shades.
  • Stay hydrated: Bring and drink plenty of water. Coolers are permitted, but are subject to search (no alcohol may be brought into the festival).
  • Sit and stay awhile: Blankets, tarp, or low-backed chairs are perfect for settling in on the grass to enjoy the show.
  • Leave the pup at home: Pets aren’t permitted at the Philly Folk Festival (with the exception of guide dogs). Fido will be happier at home in the AC, anyway!
