Community Spotlight: Girls Auto Clinic

Girls Auto Clinic

When she was unable to find a female mechanic, Patrice Banks knew that she had to do something about it. At the time, Banks worked as an engineer at DuPont. Soon, she would become the owner of Girls Auto Clinic, a business owned and operated by women and catering to women who are in need of vehicle repairs.

We’re shining a spotlight on Girls Auto Clinic, explaining what this shop has meant to the local community and how Banks has turned the world of automotive repair upside down.

A Female-Empowerment Company Serving the Community

Girls Auto ClinicBefore she owned Girls Auto Clinic in Upper Darby, Banks never knew which mechanics to trust and would often find herself not understanding what service writers and technicians were explaining. After years of feeling like she was being taken advantage of when it came to vehicle repairs, Banks decided to take control.

She went back to school for automotive technology, learning the tools of the trade while taking night classes. She worked at different garages in the area before opening Girls Auto Clinic in January of 2017. Today, GAC provides dependable and honest auto repair with an educational twist.

In an effort to educate as many women as possible, both private and monthly free workshops are offered. This is your chance to learn more about what can be done to protect your vehicle, how to talk to a mechanic, and what to do in case of emergency. These helpful workshops are designed to provide practical, simple tips and lessons.

A Full-Service Beauty Bar and Auto Repair Shop Under One Roof? You Bet

Girls Auto ClinicIn the past, Banks would drop her car off at a quick-lube joint near work on her lunch break and would get her nails done while any oil changes, tire rotations, or brake pad replacements were being taken care of. Clutch Beauty Bar by Girls Auto Clinic was Banks’ way of providing auto repair and self-care at the same time.

That’s right, while your car is being worked on, you can also receive a manicure or pedicure. The beauty bar ensures that when your car is done, you look great when you head back out on the road. It’s a truly unique experience.

Comprehensive Maintenance for Your Vehicle

Of course, it’s always a good idea to keep your owner’s manual by your side to be sure you’re following what the manufacturer has to say about your car.
