Expensive Cars At Geneva

The Most Expensive Geneva Cars

Look at the cars presented at the Geneva Auto Show – Ferrari’s LeFerrariMcLaren’s P1, and the Rolls Royce Wraith – “OMG!” You have to ask, “What would happen if they got in an accident?” Such engineering and architecture, so sleek and sophisticated, so much money! Where would you find the auto body repair training necessary to fix even minor crash damage to your local celebrities car?

Ferrari LeFerrari

Ferrari will only make 499 of these concept vehicles – at $1.3+ million. But, there are few drivers out there who can really handle its 949 horsepower/664 pound-feet of torque. Approximately 75% of this power comes from the 6.3L V-12 engine, and the rest from its 132 pounds of batteries. The thrust is driven to the rear wheels with a 7-speed, dual clutch system. Any car that can go from 0 to 62 mph in 3 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph may require repair some time down the road. The chassis consists of layers of carbon fiber and Kevlar which has been hand-laminated and cooked into the carriage supporting its sweeping aerodynamics, wide open air-intakes, and low center of gravity.

McLaren P1

The hype on McLaren’s P1 has surrounded features which, when put together, show an odd yet breathtakingly beautiful vehicle literally wrapped around its engineering. Shown in yellows and papaya, it dazzles as much as the smoldering red LeFerrari. There will only be 375 P1s at $1.3+ million. The McLaren is so uniquely made, when damaged, they have to pull out original drawings and tools. Can it get damaged? With 903 horsepower hitting 186 mph under 17 seconds, you bet it can!

Rolls Royce Wraith

At a mere $300K, Rolls introduces its power car. The Wraith is a 2-door version of the Rolls Royce you have been looking at for years. With slight differences in grille and air dam and a big change in the roofline, this is a Rolls, nothing in the look evokes speed. There is a conflict here between the desire to use its powerful 6.6L, twin-turbo V-12 with 624 hp, and still protect the luxury and comfort of the Rolls legend – including faux starlight in the ceiling. It is powerful and fast (to 60 mph in 4.6). But, at 5,000 pounds, it is a grand touring car with no racetrack future.
