Auto Mechanic vs. Technician: What’s the Difference?

While the terms “mechanic” and “technician” may be used interchangeably, it’s important to note how industry roles have evolved in recent years. The technician role is an evolution of the mechanic role, essentially. Auto technicians are today’s mechanics, and as vehicles become more advanced, technicians are needed to repair vehicles in this ever-changing world.

Auto technicians handle the diagnosis and repair of vehicles, from computerized electrical system repairs to traditional maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations.

Through our alliance with the Auto Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia (ADAGP), we are able to help students and graduates with employment opportunities. With over 190 new car and truck franchises in the region, dealers are consistently looking for automotive, collision repair, and diesel technicians. Plus, with a number of marinas located throughout the area and nearby, our automotive technician school can help marine technicians find their calling, too!
